Pope Francis asked to treat mothers-in-law well, but warned them: “Be careful when expressing yourself”

The Pope Francisco surprised this Wednesday by addressing a historic conflict, when he defended the mothers-in-law, whom he defined as victims of trivial “cliches”, Although he urged them to “pay attention to their language” in their relationship with their daughters-in-law. “Be careful when expressing yourself”, the pontiff advised them.

During his general audience at the Saint Peter’s Square, dedicated to the relationship between generations, the pontiff made a long digression on “the mythical character” of the mother-in-law. ”I wouldn’t say that they are seen as if they were the devil, but it is true that they are treated pejoratively. But the mother-in-law is the mother of your husband and the mother of your wife,” he stressed.

”We say that the mother-in-law, the further away she is, the better. But no, she is a mother, she is an old woman. One of the most beautiful things for a woman is to have grandchildren. When children have children, she lives again,” the Pope continued.

However, Bergoglio also sent a curious warning to daughters-in-law. “Take care of your relationships with your mothers-in-law. Sometimes they are a bit special, but they have given birth to their spouse”, commented.

And finally to the mothers-in-law, Francis gave this warning: “Be careful when expressing yourself. [Las desviaciones] of language are one of the ugliest sins of mothers-in-law”. On this occasion, Francis apologized for having presided over the general audience sitting down, as he was very weak due to knee pain that recently forced him to cancel several appointments.

“I apologize because I am going to greet you sitting down,” he said at the end of the hearing. ”This knee is slow to heal and I can’t stay on my feet for long. I apologize, thank you,” she added to applause.

Francis, who began his tenth year of pontificate in March, suffers from acute pain in his right knee, which has recently prevented him from participating in certain acts.
