Porsche’s Cayenne Electric arrives as a 2026 model priced from £83k, bringing up to 1,140bhp and a 113kWh battery pack to the Stuttgart car maker’s line-up. Built on the Premium Platform Electric architecture, the high-performance SUV delivers nearly 400 miles of range and up to 600 kW of battery recuperation power inspired by Formula E racing.

Engineering the First Fully Electric Cayenne

Back in 2002, critics everywhere questioned Porsche’s decision to compromise its sporty image by developing something as unconventional as a sports utility vehicle. Traditionalists strongly objected, and rumor had it the 911 was deeply offended at the prospect of sharing its distinct headlights with a bulky luxury SUV.

Nearly a quarter of a century on, Porsche has built more than 1.3 million of the 4x4s. That number is only going to increase further as Zuffenhausen launches the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric, according to Car Magazine.

Sold alongside regular combustion and hybrid Cayennes, this new variant shares the fundamentals of its Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform with the smaller Macan SUV. However, enough new features and differentiation are engineered in to qualify for a new PPE41C moniker. This architecture supports rapid charging peaks at 400kW, allowing drivers at a suitable high-power charging station to recharge more than 300 km of range in just 10 minutes, as detailed by Porsche.

Performance Figures and Variant Architecture

At launch, buyers can pick from three distinct variants of the Cayenne Electric. Each model utilizes a 113kWh cell with a usable capacity of 108kWh. WLTP consumption sits at 3.2 miles per kilowatt-hour for the base and S variants, and 3.0 mi/kWh for the top-tier Turbo.

The Turbo variant stands out as the most powerful production Porsche of all time. Meanwhile, energy management and recuperation powers draw directly from the software and systems that secured the 2024 and 2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship titles for the 99X Electric racecar.

Development models underwent rigorous evaluation in extreme environments, travelling from frozen Scandinavian lakes to the searing heat of the desert in Dubai. This testing ensured the vehicle’s performance, comfort, and range remain without compromise.

Inside the cabin, the Cayenne Electric ushers in a new digital experience centred around the curved Flow Display, which serves as the largest display surface ever seen in a Porsche. UK deliveries begin in June, offering buyers a blend of sports car handling, rabid performance, and executive features.
