Porto do Lobito Grand Prix brings together more than 200 athletes – Jornal OPaís

More than two hundred runners, federated and non-federated, participated this Sunday, March 24th, in the Grande Prémio Porto do Lobito athletics, an event held in celebration of the company’s 96th anniversary.

The 5 kilometer race was won by Fernando Chioco, who completed the route in 16 minutes and 05 seconds. In second place, with a time of 16 minutes and 45 seconds, was Lucas Chivela, representative of the Clube de Amigos da Corrida de Benguela, while Vasco Mita came in third place, with a time of 17 minutes and 03 seconds.

In the female category, the winner was Laurinda Kulendela, from the Lobito Army Military Academy, who completed the race in 26 minutes and 15 seconds, followed by her teammate, Laurinda Praia, who came second.

Children also participated in the competition. In the male children’s category, the winners were Fernando Aqui, Mauro Adriano and Alberto Kulendela. In the children’s women’s category, Ana Alberto came first, followed by Laurinda Magalhães and Teresa Calei.

However, port workers were highlighted as the winners of the competition. In this sense, Adriano Lumbo was the fastest and crossed the finish line in first place. Participants praised Porto do Lobito’s initiative in holding this competition, which helped to reinvigorate athletics in the municipality of Lobito.

During the event, Celso Rosas, president of the board of directors of Porto do Lobito, thanked the athletes for their presence in the celebration of the 96th anniversary, rewarding all participants with medals.

It is important to highlight that the first winners received a cash prize of 100 thousand kwanzas, while the second and third placed were also awarded 50 thousand kwanzas each.
