Pavel Kamnev, Russia’s top military rocket scientist and the “father” of the powerful Kalibr cruise missile, has died at the age of 86.
Almaz-Antey Corporation, Russia’s leading missile manufacturer, on January 9 announced the departure of Mr. Kamnev.
Pavel Kamnev was born on October 14, 1937 in the city of Makhachkala in the Caspian region, Russia. According to Top War, from a young age, Kamnev was famous for being good at studying and achieving high results in technical subjects.
After graduating from the Moscow Aviation Institute with honors, Kamnev began working at the MI Kalinin machine building in the Sverdlovsk region in 1960.
