Portugal qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, by defeating Switzerland 6-1 at Lusail Stadium.
Sharjah 24 – Asaad Khalil:
Portugal crushed its rival Switzerland 6-1 thanks to its young striker Goncalo Ramos, who replaced superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring a hat-trick to lead it to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup at Lusail Stadium.
Ramos, 21, hit hard in the first international match in which he started, and his goals came in the 17th, 51st and 67th minutes. Pepe 33, Rafael Guerrero 55 and Rafael Leao 90 + 2 added the other goals, while Manuel Akanji scored Switzerland’s only goal 58.
Portugal set a quarter-final date on Saturday with Morocco, who achieved a resounding surprise by knocking out Spain on penalties earlier.
