In connection with the numerous dead geese at the Beaudet reservoir in the last few days, the Ministry of the Environment, the Fight once morest Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks indicated by email “that the examination of the carcasses strongly suggests that these birds were infected with the avian influenza virus”.

The e-mail also reads “however, it should be taken into consideration that when a carcass is recovered for analysis, it may take one to three weeks before the results are available”.

Several specimens have already been collected in recent weeks as part of the provincial surveillance program for avian influenza in wild birds in Quebec.

As a result, the Department has advised that reporting and testing of specimens is no longer required in this area, as the presence of avian influenza has already been confirmed.

We recall that in October, a farm in Princeville euthanized 30,000 hens due to avian flu.
