Predators: Carrier out four to six weeks

Alexandre Carrier will miss four to six weeks after sustaining an upper-body injury in the Nashville Predators’ 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

The defender blocked a shot from Brandon Montour in the first period, which required the arrival of medical personnel on the ice. The puck seemed to hit him near the collarbone. Carrier had a 13-second presence in the second period before leaving the game for good.

“It was a blow last night,” commented Predators general manager David Poile.

Carrier was playing his third game since returning to the game. He had previously missed nine games with an upper-body injury. In 43 games this season, he has two goals and seven assists.

His absence could spell opportunity for the newcomer Cal Foote, acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 26 in the trade involving Tanner Jeannot.

Foote has only played one game so far with the Predators, stopping two shots in a 3-1 loss to the Penguins on Tuesday.

“We will have the chance to see Foote well at work by the end of the season,” concluded Poile.
