The manager of the English soccer team Tottenham Hotspur is considering resting his international players, who participated in the last World Cup, which was held in Qatar, during his team’s match against Brentford on Monday.
The English Premier League, the Premier League, will resume its competitions on Monday, eight days after the final match of the World Cup.
Conte, the Tottenham coach, said that his two international players, who participated in the final, namely Frenchman Hugo Lloris and Argentine Christian Romero, will not participate in the match in any case.
Conte said he would not be happy with their participation, adding: “On the one hand, I am happy because my Tottenham team includes 12 players who participated in the World Cup, which means that we are on the right path, to be in competition and to win titles.”
He said, “But it is natural that when you have this number of players, participating in a tournament like this, and in the middle of the season, it is not easy, because the physical side will not be in the best condition.”
Conte continued, “We worked hard on the tactical side, on the physical side, and the players are now at a better level than their colleagues who participated in the World Cup.”
And he added: “For this reason, I think I have to make the best decisions, regarding the match against Brentford, on the one hand, I have a number of players, with whom I worked during the four weeks, well, and on the other hand, I have a number of others who were participating in the Cup world, and they’re not at their highest physical level right now.”
As for Rodrigo Bentancur, Tottenham player, he will not participate in the match due to suspension, and he also suffers from a muscle injury.
Brazilian Richarlison also suffers from a muscle injury, which will keep him away from participating with the team for about a month, and he was exposed to it during his participation with his country in the World Cup.
Lucas Moura also suffers from a persistent injury, and Conte said that he was “struggling to find a solution.”
He added, “It is a difficult situation, because I have a good player in the team, but he is not ready, so it becomes as if he is not in the team.”
Conte continued, “It is pathetic, because I am talking about a good player, a good young man, but he is struggling a lot to solve the injury problem, and I do not know what will happen in the future in this regard.”
