Preparing for the gas crisis – “We won’t let Russia blackmail us”

On Wednesday, the National Council passed further legislative resolutions to deal with the gas crisis in connection with the Russian attack on Ukraine. With an amendment to the Gas Industry Act, which all parliamentary groups except the NEOS agreed to, all storage facilities in Austria are obliged to be connected to the domestic pipeline network. “We will not let Russia and Gazprom blackmail us in the way we make our free democratic decisions,” stressed the Greens’ energy spokesman, Lukas Hammer.
