Ukrainian authorities said on the 16th that mercenaries from the Wagner Group had arrived in Belarus.
“There is a Wagner group in Belarus,” said Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian border guards, through the messenger app Telegram.
The Belarusian government released a video on the 14th saying that Wagner mercenaries are training their soldiers.
Poland’s Acting Special Coordinator Stanislaw Zarin also confirmed the presence of Wagner’s mercenaries in Belarus.
Zarin estimated on his Twitter account that there are currently hundreds of Wagner mercenaries in Belarus.
The Polish government had previously announced it would strengthen its border with Belarus to address the potential threat posed by the Wagner mercenary presence in Belarus.
Some Wagner mercenaries are known to have already arrived in Belarus on the 11th.
