In celebration of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, which the world celebrates on October 27 of each year, the Authority displays, through its official platforms and accounts on social networking sites, a variety of video clips and animated images that document many heritage elements, customs, traditions, and local handicrafts, and through them narrates details. Al Shindagha Historical Neighborhood is known for its historical importance and enhances its position on the cultural tourism map. It also highlights the importance of the Hatta Heritage Area and provides the opportunity to learn about the traditional lifestyle that prevailed in the past in Dubai, which contributes to enhancing the presence of Emirati heritage on the global map.

Acting Director of the Heritage Sites Department at Dubai Culture, Maryam Dhaen Al Tamimi, pointed out the Authority’s keenness to preserve the local audio-visual cultural heritage, out of awareness of the importance of its role in introducing Dubai’s ancient history, culture and heritage, noting that this comes within the framework of cultural responsibility, which represents one of the pillars of the Authority’s priorities. sectors within its strategic map. Emphasizing the importance of World Day for Audiovisual Heritage in stimulating efforts to preserve and highlight oral heritage and spread the culture of interest in it. She said: “The audio-visual cultural heritage represents an important source for discovering the history of Dubai and the qualitative leaps it has achieved over the past years in all fields, in addition to its role in consolidating the national identity in the souls of future generations and increasing their connection to it.”

Al Tamimi added: “Dubai Culture, through its photo series (Dubai: Our Living Heritage), seeks to benefit from all the tools of digitalization and modern technology and employ them in the areas of protecting and documenting local heritage to ensure its sustainability, and to raise the level of community awareness of its importance as an indispensable treasure of knowledge and humanity. “And a reference to inspire all segments of society,” pointing to the role of the series in transmitting everything related to heritage to the emerging generations to provide them with the experiences, skills and knowledge they need to learn about its elements and origins, which reflects the Authority’s efforts aimed at supporting and nurturing craft skills and knowledge, developing them, and investing in young and creative energies.
