President highlights the care of 1,705 patients in the Center for Nuclear Medicine

La Paz, June 07, 2022 (ABI).- President Luis Arce highlighted this Tuesday that, since its inauguration on March 6, the El Alto Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (CMNyR) has treated 1,705 patients in radiotherapy and clinical oncology.

“We are fighting cancer with the best technology, which is now at the service of the population,” the president said on his social networks.

The Nuclear Medicine Center, the first in the country and among the most modern in the region, provides specialized care and state-of-the-art technology to people who require cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The CMNyR was built and equipped by the company INVAP SE Argentina, a leading company in technological projects worldwide and a leading player in development in Argentina, which for more than four decades has been developing technological systems in the nuclear, space, environmental and medical systems areas. , among others.

In the Radiotherapy area, the Center has two linear accelerators, a high-dose-rate brachytherapy unit, with a capacity to care for eight patients per day, and a simulator tomograph.

While the Clinical Oncology and Outpatient Chemotherapy area has eight offices for the care of cancer patients, seven armchairs and three stretchers for cancer treatment (chemotherapy), equipped with an infusion pump and clinical control monitoring.

Two other Centers, one in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and another in La Paz, will be delivered this year.

The network of three centers with nuclear technology aims to provide comprehensive cancer care with availability of diagnosis and treatment with different equipment.
