Since its inception in 2022, the President Néstor Kirchner Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (CMNR) in the province of Formosa has already provided care to more than 430 cancer patientswhich marks a milestone in the fight against cancer in the region.

The first patient treated, Angel Lidio Correa, was diagnosed with colon cancer at the same time the CMNR opened its doors. Originally from the Loma Hermosa neighborhood, in the town of Riacho He He, currently goes through the last stage of his treatment with radiotherapy sessions.

In this context, Ángel experiences positive results and a progressive improvement in his quality of life thanks to the treatment he received. Its history reflects the fundamental purpose of the CMNR: prevent cancer patients from having to travel daily to other provinces to receive your treatments.

Excited to share his testimony, Ángel expressed that “the evolution of radiotherapy was magnificent” for your personal stability. After receiving 28 sessions of radiotherapy, she continues her treatment steadily as prescribed by her doctor.

“First I went to the local hospital, I did three months of treatment, then to the Central Hospital, where they diagnosed me with the disease I have. “They told me I had a tumor in my colon, malignant, quite complicated.”, he added. At that moment he began to plan a trip to Buenos Aires to be treated, at which time the Nuclear Medicine Center in Formosa was inaugurated.

“Without this center I had to go for my treatment in another province. Now we have it in our own province, for that reason you don’t stay away from your loved ones, that helped me recover”Angel emphasized.

Along these same lines, the patient praised the human quality of the CMNR professionals, who from the first day made him feel at home, which made him feel as if he were with his family.

Finally, Ángel clarified that he does not have social work, so is grateful for the possibility of accessing free, quality public health in order to treat your illness.
