Tegucigalpa, Honduras

The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, assured this Friday that a conspiracy is being formed in the country to destabilize the government.

“You have to understand that there is a conspiracy that is being formed here, that has to be made clear to the Honduran people, let’s just look at who are the figures that are coming out, the same ones that contributed to a coup d’état in 2009,” said the presents Honduran after a ceremony celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the Honduran Air Force (FAH).

He also recalled that he will not give up “not one step” in the actions he has taken to protect the lives of his compatriots and highlighted the implementation of the National Crime Solution Plan, approved at the end of March.

“We will not give a step to fulfill the mission that corresponds to us to protect the life and property of all citizens,” he stressed.

He added that the solution against crime in Honduras, considered one of the most violent countries in the world, “is underway” after the National Defense and Security Council approved the National Crime Solution Plan at the end of March.

The National Police, with the support of military forces, “travels throughout the country to apprehend the leaders of organized crime, combat homicides, extortion and drug trafficking,” the president emphasized.

Castro indicated that he ordered the intervention of the penitentiary centers, where “real disarmament must be carried out, as well as the control of the facilities through permanent manual and electronic records in 100% of the physical facilities.”

In addition, a “total” blockade of the telephone signal to prevent prisoners from making calls from prisons and an “intervention in official lines for the registration and security of all internal and external communications.”

The intervention also includes the removal and purge of human resources, an increase in the number of agents, their equipment, training and salaries, he added.

President Castro expressed to the Honduran Air Force the commitment of her Government to “strengthen its team and its functions”, for which reason her Administration is advancing on a project to “improve our aircraft.”

He also highlighted the support of the Honduran Air Force in fighting forest fires and in humanitarian search and rescue tasks.

“My commitment every day and every hour on this difficult path of social transformation for the Honduran people is to work tirelessly with all the democratic forces until we overcome the crisis that is weighing us down,” Castro emphasized.

The Honduran president thanked God for “the spiritual strength” to “continue in the fight and in the transformation of our people” and asked Hondurans not to forget that “we are resistance.” EFE
