BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 19, WAM/ His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, and his accompanying delegation visited the Great Wall of China, one of the main landmarks in human history, during his official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
His Excellency and the Council delegation toured parts of the wall, which was built in stages that are more than two thousand years old and extends for thousands of kilometres, and heard from Chinese officials an introductory explanation about the wall, the history of its construction, and the most important archaeological monuments it contains, such as castles and watchtowers. In it, they explained that building a wall Great China took place in different terrains as it passes through mountains, deserts and crosses rivers; Its architectural structure differs in each area in which it was built, according to its topography.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash said that this cultural landmark expresses determination and originality in construction and development, and is considered a unique landmark in architectural history, with the historical and cultural landmarks it contains whose history extends over more than two thousand years.
His Excellency affirmed his great appreciation for the leadership, government, parliament and people of the Republic of China and for its keenness to consolidate the foundations of solid friendship and constructive cooperation with the UAE, stressing that both countries are ably striving for a renaissance that affects various sectors of national work.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash and the Council delegation visited the Chinese Communist Party Museum, which represents a site dedicated to permanent and comprehensive exhibitions of the party’s history.
His Excellency was briefed on the museum’s various sections, which start from the founding of the Chinese Communist Party and include many historical collectibles.
The museum also displays the career of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and his role in developing and advancing China until it became the second economy in the world.
The Federal National Council delegation included His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Humaid Al-Tayer, Osama Ahmed Al-Shafar, Aisha Reda Al-Bairaq, Sumaya Hareb Al-Suwaidi, and Afra Bakhit Al-Alayli, members of the Council, Dr. Omar Al-Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Council, and Afra Rashid Al-Basti, Secretary. Assistant General for Parliamentary Communication, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary General for Council Presidency Affairs.
