President of the Republic grants pardon to more than ninety citizens – news

Following the approval of the Amnesty Law, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, signed this Wednesday, 21st, a decree that pardons the prison sentences applied to 91 convicted citizens.

This is a pardon for prison sentences applied to a group of convicted citizens, in a measure that takes into account the fact that, in a few days, Christmas Day will be celebrated.

In a note, the Press Secretary of the Presidential Palace states that with the decision, the Head of State grants prisoners sentenced to custodial sentences an opportunity for social and family reintegration.

The document informs that for the pardon, the President of the Republic took into account the fulfillment of half of the prison sentence applied.

The pardon granted by the Head of State covers convicts from the country’s eighteen provinces.
