On the 30th, President Yoon Seok-yeol refused to accept the motion to dismiss Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, which was passed by the Democratic Party in the National Assembly the day before.
Presidential Office Chief Public Relations Officer Kim Eun-hye released a position statement on the same day, saying, “Today’s Ministry of Personnel Affairs and Innovation informed the presidential office of the National Assembly’s recommendation to dismiss Minister Park, saying, ‘In accordance with Article 63 of the Constitution, we propose dismissal of Minister Park. He said, “President Yoon Seok-yeol said, ‘I will not accept the dismissal proposal.'” Minister Park also clarified that he had no intention of resigning, citing the National Assembly’s passing of the motion to remove him as a result of a “political dispute.” In the morning of the same day, Minister Park held a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. I do not agree with the opposition party’s claim that this visit is a ‘diplomatic disaster’.”
Prior to this, President Yoon dismissed the possibility of Park’s replacement, saying, “I think the public knows which is right and which is wrong.”
