President Zelensky blames Russia for ‘total blackout’ in eastern Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday claimed that Russia was responsible for power cuts affecting eastern Ukraine and accused Moscow of deliberately hitting civilian infrastructure.

“A total power outage in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, a partial one in the Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions”wrote Mr. Zelensky in a statement on social networks, according to which “the goal is to deprive people of light and heating”.

Ukrainian authorities in the east of the country on Sunday accused the Russians of bombardments on strategic infrastructure that led to power cuts in large areas of the country, as kyiv launched a counter-offensive that broke through Russian lines.
