Criminologist Alberto Contreras commented in 2001 that criminals pose as company workers, salespeople, people who claim to need help.
“In recent years, due to the situation of many Venezuelans, there are many people who have to go door to door asking for help, be it food, clothing or anything, but others take advantage”he explained.

Premeditated robberies
“These types of robberies are premeditated, they do not happen from one day to the next”said the criminologist.

The lawyer also highlighted that they usually work in teams, since being a single criminal “it complicates things for them”.
Contreras explained that after the recognition period they take the role they plan to play.

“These guys go and inspect the house, they see that they can steal it, that it is valuable, and then they arrive days later with a larger group to rob it.”he expressed.

Contreras clarified that apartment robberies are to take small and valuable objects such as: phones, cash, jewelry and anything that can be easy to hide.
“They cannot leave a building with televisions and heavy objects”he shared.
For this same reason, it is recommended to have doors with locks, not letting strangers into residences or apartments.
In addition, having security guards to prevent strangers from accessing the building or only allowing them to enter with the permission of a resident.
