Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday stressed the imperative to prevent an expansion of the conflict between Hamas and Israel to the Gaza Strip.
During a telephone conversation, the two diplomats exchanged an assessment of the security and humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Shoukry reviewed the process of delivering aid to the Palestinian coastal enclave, according to the statement.
The two ministers also discussed preparations for the extraordinary Islamic summit scheduled for November 12 in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
