According to the monitoring data of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the international dengue fever epidemic has been on the rise recently. As my country’s border control and quarantine measures are gradually relaxed, the risk of imported dengue fever has also increased. Coupled with the recent high temperature across the country and heavy rains in various places, if the environmental water containers are not cleaned up in time after the rain, it is easy for vector mosquitoes to grow. Therefore, in addition to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, China has also entered the dengue fever season. County Mayor Lin Zimiao called on friends of the county residents to ensure that the prevention and control of vector mosquitoes should not be slack, and should do a good job of “patroling, pouring, cleaning, and brushing” to remove environmental breeding sources, jointly prevent the breeding of vector mosquitoes, and stay away from the threat of dengue fever.

Dengue fever, commonly known as “Tengu Fever” or “Broken Bone Fever”, is an acute infectious disease caused by the bite of a vector mosquito. It is transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, and the virus must also be transmitted from person to person through the bite of the vector mosquito. Therefore, the public should pay more attention to the hygiene of the home environment, regularly “patrol” the surrounding environment, “upside down” unused containers, “clean” discarded containers, and “brush” the inner walls of containers to remove insect eggs. In addition, people living in mountainous areas should pay special attention to the natural breeding sources around their homes, such as tree holes and bamboo holes, and be sure to fill them with soil to avoid the accumulation of water and the breeding of mosquitoes. Wear light-colored long-sleeved clothes when going out, and apply mosquito repellent cream on exposed skin to avoid mosquito bites.

County Mayor Lin Zimiao not only asked the environmental protection units in the county to continue to strengthen environmental cleanup, but also reminded everyone that in order to prevent the breeding of vector mosquitoes, it is also necessary to rely on the public to actively participate in the removal of the breeding source of vector mosquitoes, such as inspecting the water containers around the house and doing it. Only by clearing it can effectively prevent the breeding of vector mosquitoes and further prevent the occurrence of dengue fever. If the public has suspected symptoms such as fever, headache, posterior eye socket pain, nausea, muscle and joint pain, rash, etc., they should seek medical treatment as soon as possible, and take the initiative to inform the TOCC of the activity history, so that the health unit can take timely preventive measures.
