Louga, Nov 19 (APS) – The head doctor of the Louga health district (north), Dr Sitor Ndour, invited people to practice regular physical activities to avoid diabetes.

”We invite people to do regular physical activities, at least three times a week, to eat healthy, to avoid tobacco and to eat excessively,” he declared.

Dr Sitor Ndour spoke with journalists at the end of the hike organized by the regional health directorate of Louga, in partnership with the regional association of diabetics as part of the activities to celebrate World Diabetics Day. fight against this pathology.

”A sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for diabetes that can be avoided by moving and doing regular physical activities. For physical activities to be important, they must be regular, at least three times a week and for 30 minutes,” said Mr. Ndour.

Beyond physical activity, he insisted on the need for a moderate diet, avoiding eating foods that are too sweet or salty and with too much fat and avoiding tobacco consumption.

He recommended that people with diabetes have a “schedule so that, on a regular basis, they can organize hikes to better approach physical activity”.

NGOs, defense and security forces, the Red Cross, the Louga hikers’ league and goodwill took part in this land hike to mark World Diabetes Day.
