Dr. Jamal Shaaban, former dean of the National Heart Institute, said that heart muscle weakness is one of the diseases that has become common among young people, in light of the presence of many risk factors at the present time.
Shaaban added that all groups are vulnerable to heart muscle weakness, but young people are now more vulnerable to this problem due to unhealthy diets, nervous and psychological stress, as well as lack of commitment to exercise, with the spread of obesity and smoking among young people.
And the former dean of the National Heart Institute continued, that the weakening of the heart muscle means that it extends and enlarges the heart, which leads to a decline in its systolic function, which may reach less than 35%, or a disturbance and defect in the diastolic process occurs.
Shaaban pointed out that the symptoms of heart muscle weakness begin with the appearance of some symptoms, such as two approaches with very little effort, in addition to shortness of breath.

The former dean of the National Heart Institute stressed the importance of conducting the necessary examinations periodically, especially for those with a family history of heart disease, noting the importance of conducting regular checks for diabetes, pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides.
Shaaban called for quitting smoking as much as possible, following healthy diets, and getting used to exercising as much as possible.
