The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) declared preventive early warning for 10 communes of the Metropolitan Region due to the forecast of electrical storms.
The measure applies to the communes of Colina, Vitacura, Las Condes, La Reina, Lo Barnechea, Peñalolén, La Florida, Puente Alto, San José de Maipo and Pirque.
According to the information provided by the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), a technical alert for probable development of thunderstorms, with isolated precipitation in the mountain range sector.

“In consideration of this background, which represents an increase in the risk associated with said variable, and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation, the Directorate of the SENAPRED Metropolitan Region declares a Preventive Early Warning” valid from today and until conditions warrant itthey indicated this day.
“The declaration of this alert is constituted as a state of strengthening surveillance, through precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National Disaster Prevention and Response System ( SENAPRED) in order to act in a timely manner in the event of possible emergency situations,” they added.
Likewise, citizens were recommended to avoid proximity to machinery, metal fences or bars, wire fences and power lines, and not to use radio equipment, GPS devices, landlines or mobile phones during the storm.
