This weekend all Ruitenheer Academy Teams can compete. The O14 and O17 will play on the Ruitenheer Academy field, while the O16 and O18 will play an away match. Read the preview of the Ruitenheer Academy Teams for Saturday April 6 here.
O18 against competitor FC Dordrecht
After a great adventure, the curtain fell for the U18s in the semi-finals of the cup last Saturday, and this week another competition match is scheduled at FC Dordrecht. Although it is very close in Division 3, it is a match between two competitors. The O18 is currently in sixth place with ten points, FC Dordrecht occupies seventh place with the same number of points. In an earlier meeting this season, the score was 3-5 in favor of FC Dordrecht in a goal-rich match.
Goalkeeper Zito Abdul hopes for sharpness in the team: ”Last time we conceded a lot of goals in a short time. This mainly had to do with our sharpness. It is not that we suddenly want to play differently, we continue to have confidence in our own game. We are keen to achieve a better result on Saturday than the previous match against FC Dordrecht. We as a team know that we can beat anyone if we are on, but we can also lose to anyone if we don’t start sharply. We have this in our own hands.”
This Saturday the kick-off will be at the Youth Home FC Dordrecht at 2:00 PM.
U17 in city derby against ASC Waterwijk
The O17 of Almere City FC will compete against ASC Waterwijk in the city derby on Saturday. In the previous meeting it was a real goal celebration, the U17 managed to win by no less than 1-10 at Sportpark Rie Mastenbroek. Despite that result, Almere City FC O17 is in second place, only one point ahead of ASC Waterwijk, which is third with sixteen points. The U17s are fully participating in the championship, leader Royal HFC has a point lead.
Trainer Arjan Bults expects a different Waterwijk than the previous match: ”We have to deliver at least the same as the opponent again, only from there can you make the difference. That is where the biggest challenge lies. You never play the same match twice and I certainly expect that they will come here with feelings of revenge and be motivated to the core.”
The city derby will kick off at 1:15 PM on the Ruitenheer Academy field.
O16 wants to get points again against De Graafschap
Last week the U16s of Almere City FC played a nice practice match against PSV, this week another competition match for the U16s awaits at De Graafschap. The U16s are currently in last place in Division 3 and would like to make progress in the competition again. De Graafschap O16 is a good opponent for that. The Superboeren have not managed to score a point in the past three matches. In the previous meeting, the O16 lost narrowly, the score being 0-1 on the Ruitenheer Academy field.
Trainer Alex Aalders: “Last time we played a strong match against De Graafschap with many opportunities. Recently we have become better in our play on the ball, we are also more direct and we deliver more quality in our passing accuracy. Saturday is another great moment for us to grow and see if we can play at least as well as the previous match, hopefully with a better result.”
The ball starts rolling at Sportpark de Bezelhorst at 12:30.
O14 wants to take revenge against Alphense Boys
Last week there was no match on the program for the U14s, but this week they can play again against Alphense Boys. Almere City FC O14 has not won in the past five matches and wants to change that against Alphense Boys. In the previous mutual match it ended 2-0, in favor of Alphense Boys. The O14 wants to look up again and leave the shared last place with PEC Zwolle.
Trainer Simon van den Berg hopes for a better outcome than the previous match: ”We have something to make up for in the coming match against Alphense Boys. Last match we were dominant in the first half, but we didn’t create enough. Alphense Boys was deadly twice in the second half and that made the difference. This time we hope to have good mutual distances in defense, so that – just like in the previous match – we can quickly get the ball in our possession. We just have to get more out of it. We will do this by getting our attackers better positioned in front of the goal. For this we have to work well together and create pace without the ball. We have been working a lot in recent weeks on patterns within attacking and recognizing free space, hopefully that will come out on Saturday.”
Kick-off will take place on the Ruitenheer Academy field at 3:30 PM.
