Preview Screening of ‘Ru’ Film by Charles-Olivier Michaud in Granby

CULTURE. The Élysée cinema in Granby will present a preview screening of the film by director Charles-Olivier Michaud, “Ru”, an adaptation of the autobiographical novel by author Kim Thúy, this Tuesday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m.

The public and movie buffs will be able to see this cinematographic work inspired by the story of Kim Thúy who grew up in Granby after leaving Vietnam with members of his family to start a new life.

The director, Charles-Olivier, Kim Thúy and the actors Chloé Djandji, Chantal Thúy and Jean Búi will be on hand during the presentation of the film. They will also participate in a question-and-answer period with the public at the end of the screening.

“Ru stars Chloé Djandji, in the role of little Tinh (Thúy). His mother is played by Chantal Thuy (Nguyen), his father by Jean Bui (Minh), his little brothers by Olivier Dinh (Quôc) and Xavier Nguyen (Duc). On the host family side, we find Karine Vanasse (Lisette Girard), Patrice Robitaille (Normand Girard), their daughter played by Mali Corbeil Gauvreau (Johanne) as well as Lisette’s mother, Marie-Thérèse Fortin (Jeannine). »

The film will be released across Quebec on Friday, November 24.
