After the removal of a malignant breast tumor, Sarah, Duchess of York, continues her recovery at Royal Lodge alongside Prince Andrew. And no question for her to move before being fully recovered.
In his battle to stay at Royal Lodge, Prince Andrew is entitled to a reprieve. Let’s start from the beginning. In 2003, Andrew signed a 74-year lease with the Crown Estate, the company that manages the property belonging to the British monarchy, to rent Royal Lodge, a vast 30-room residence located in the large park of Windsor. Although divorced, he will live there with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and their two daughters, until their respective marriages. Involved in a sex scandal with the sinister Jeffrey Epstein, the prince only avoided a lawsuit by paying several million dollars to his alleged victim, Viriginia Giuffre, as amicable compensation. In “disgrace”, deprived of all official functions and all public income, the Duke of York no longer has the means to pay the rent and maintenance costs of Royal Lodge.

However, Fergie’s surgery – operated on for breast cancer in June 2023 – will inevitably delay the move. The mastectomy she just underwent – after a routine mammogram – lasted almost 8 hours, and left her still fragile. On the other hand, we do not know what additional treatment – radio or chemotherapy – she will be required to do. “She is resting at home, revealed a relative of the princess, interviewed on the site Page Six. It was a major surgery. She had a lot of support. Her two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are very supportive, as is Andrew.” Already, Eugenie lives at Frogmore Cottage with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their two sons, August and Ernest, born on May 30.
Still, the very real financial dilemma in which the Duke of York is struggling will have to be resolved in the more or less short term, as a palace source explains: “Charles will not expel Andrew, but Andrew will have to find the money to look after the property himself… and where will he find it?” As for Fergie, aged 63, she is determined to overcome this health ordeal. She has already resumed recordings of her podcast Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah – “Around a cup of tea” – which she co-hosts with her friend Sarah Thomas. With this upbeat message in support of cancer prevention: “I’m going to be super fit and super good, super strong. And if I have to scream about it from the top of the mountains, then I will! Because I think that it’s vital that we wake everyone up to go get screened, not just breast cancer. I’m talking about prostate and all the other checks.”
