A dress worn by the late Princess Diana has sold for more than £900,000.

In the record sale held by Julien’s Auctions, Jacques Azagury’s black and blue star-studded dress, featuring a ballerina-style skirt, achieved the highest price ever for an item worn by the late princess, with one bid final $1,148,080 (£904,262).

The dress, which was expected to fetch only about $100,000, was worn by Diana during the 1985 royal tour with Prince Charles and to a 1986 Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concert.

A blouse estimated at $80,000 to $100,000 was also sold for $300,000.

The pleated shirt with a ribbon around the collar was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel – the same designers who designed Diana’s wedding dress when she married Charles.

It was worn in the couple’s official engagement photo, taken by Lord Snowdon in 1981.

Recently, Diana’s lost jumper was also sold for almost £1 million.

The famous “black sheep” sweater, consisting of a red wool sweater and decorated with a white sheep and a black sheep, went under the hammer at Sotheby’s Fashion Icons auction and reached 885,000 pounds sterling ($1.1 million).
