Princess Kate apologizes after photoshopped photo leaked

Princess Kate on Monday took responsibility for an edited photo showing her with her children on Sunday that was removed by major news agencies for its alterations. It was the first official photo of the princess, who has been out of the public eye since Christmas and had undergone abdominal surgery in January.

Rather than providing reassurance about his health, this altered photo had the opposite effect, causing a media storm shortly after an announcement, ultimately withdrawn, about his presence at an official event in June.

“Like many amateur photographers, I sometimes try my hand at publishing. I would like to apologize for the confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday,” said the Princess of Wales in a message signed “C” for Catherine, published on X (formerly Twitter).

While royal sources spoke of “minor adjustments”, Kensington Palace, responsible for communications for the Prince and Princess of Wales, ruled out on Monday publishing the original photo without modifications. It was broadcast on Sunday for Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom, taken by Kate’s husband, Prince William. We see the 42-year-old princess, smiling, in jeans, sweater and blazer, surrounded by her three children.

The photo was accompanied by a short message thanking the public for their “continued support over the past two months.” But careful examination reveals several inconsistencies in the alignments. Princess Charlotte’s left hand does not line up correctly with the sleeve of her vest, one end of which appears cut off. There is also a clear break in Princess Kate’s zipper, clearly visible when enlarging the image.
