Princess Kate in hospital: visit from husband William

Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that Princess Catherine – commonly known as Kate – had undergone abdominal surgery. The palace emphasized that it was not cancer.

Details of the illness were not given. After a hospital stay of up to two weeks, Kate will continue to recover in Kensington Palace and will probably not attend public appointments again until after Easter.

Kate turned 42 on January 9th. She has three children with Prince William, the older son of the British King Charles III: ten-year-old George, eight-year-old Charlotte and five-year-old Louis. She is one of the most popular and most photographed members of the British royal family. She often appears alongside her husband William, but increasingly also has her own obligations as a representative of the royal family.

The news of the illness had caused great concern for fans of the Royals, especially since Charles III was also. will have to go to hospital next week because of a benign enlargement of the prostate. Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that after his hospital stay, the king will refrain from making public appearances “for a short period of time.” It was not announced exactly when Charles would be hospitalized or how long the recovery time would take.

It is the first time since his accession to the throne in September 2022 that Charles has had to cancel public appointments due to a hospital stay. Since the death of his mother Elizabeth II, the 75-year-old has completed a busy schedule of public appearances. According to British media reports, Prince William has also postponed appointments so that he can be by his wife’s side and look after their three children in the coming days.

So now three of the highest-ranking royals are out of action. Only Queen Camilla will continue to attend appointments in the coming weeks. On Thursday, the 76-year-old attended an event at an art gallery in Aderdeen, Scotland. When asked about the king’s health, she replied: “He’s fine, thank you very much.”
