Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that the Princess of Wales was hospitalized after undergoing abdominal surgery and will remain at the London Clinic for up to two weeks.
The palace said that Kate Middleton is expected to return to her public duties after Easter.
The 42-year-old future queen was admitted to hospital on Tuesday.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will arouse,” the palace said. “She hopes the public understands her desire to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible; She wants her personal medical information to remain private.
The palace also said that Kate, Prince William’s wife, would like to apologize for canceling and postponing her upcoming engagements.
