Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al Mujab has issued a policy document stating that the trial process of prisoners in Saudi Arabia should be expedited and they should be given humane treatment. The policy document also specifies procedures for inspection and monitoring of detention centers and prisons. The authorities have clarified that henceforth there will be judicial supervision in terms of execution of punishment and in prisons. (Prisoners in Saudi Arabia should be treated humanely)
Sheikh Mu’jab released the policy document at a meeting of Asir Regional Heads of Public Prosecution. The Attorney General highlighted the importance of increasing the efficiency of prosecution operations and the need to speed up the trial process of prisoners.

The guidelines are prepared by considering international regulations and Saudi Public Prosecution Laws. The guidelines state that proper judicial inquiry should be conducted when assets and property of financial value are seized. The guidelines also state that there should be surveillance at the place where seized valuables are kept.
