Privacy Policy & Consent to Receive Updates | MPR & APMG

by

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) and its parent organization, American Public Media Group (APMG), have updated their data collection practices, informing users that submission of information through platforms like the “Call to Mind” initiative constitutes consent to receive communications regarding programs and offerings from MPR and related entities.

The updated policy, as of July 25, 2022, details how APMG collects, uses, and discloses user information across its websites, mobile applications, and media services, including podcasts. APMG, which also encompasses American Public Media (APM), Southern California Public Radio (SCPR), and LAist, outlines that personally identifying information provided will not be sold or shared for purposes beyond communication related to MPR, APMG entities, and their sponsors. Users are provided with an opt-out mechanism via an unsubscribe link in email communications.

According to the APMG Privacy Policy, the organization provides this information to ensure transparency regarding its data handling procedures. The policy applies to all sites operated by APMG and its affiliates. Users are directed to review the full Privacy Policy before accessing or utilizing these services, with continued use signifying agreement to the outlined terms.

APMG operates as a tax-exempt nonprofit support organization, providing administrative and financial services to American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio, and Southern California Public Radio. The organization also licenses and operates Public Radio Market. The stated mission of APMG is to ensure the long-term financial stability of its supported organizations.

The Terms of Use for APMG’s websites and services, effective January 30, 2025, incorporate the Privacy Policy by reference. These terms govern access to the “Site,” which includes podcasts, electronic newsletters, and other forms of communication. Accessing or using the Site constitutes acceptance of both the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

The “Call to Mind” initiative, hosted by MPR News, specifically states that by submitting information, users confirm they are at least 18 years of age and consent to receiving information as described in the APMG Privacy Policy.
