Yambu: Saudi Arabia’s private sector employees will have four days off for Eid al – Fitr, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. April 30 (Ramadan 29) will be the last working day. The holidays, which start on May 1, will last for four days. May 5 will be a working day.

The Ministry has urged employers to abide by the provisions of Article 24 of Article 24 of the Labor Code relating to granting Eid-ul-Fitr leave to their employees. Some private companies have given May 5 more leave to relieve their employees. Employees of companies are entitled to nine days off, including the five days off and the weekends before and after the holidays, Friday and Saturday.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, many expatriates are preparing to return home to celebrate the festival with their families. King Salman of Saudi Arabia has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the country, including public education universities and schools at various levels, ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. April 21 (Ramadan 20) will be the last working day of Ramadan in educational institutions.

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Education had set April 25 (Ramadan 24) as the last working day. King Salman has ordered a rescheduling of the holiday, following the recommendation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Minister of Defense, in a bid to bring more relief to students at the end of Ramadan.

Authorities allowed Saudi schools to operate this Ramadan after a 14-year hiatus. According to the revised academic calendar from last year, the academic year in the country is now 39 weeks long academic year.
