javier melchor is the new Anderlecht goalkeeping coach, the RSCA announced on Tuesday. The Spaniard replaces Frank Boekx who had left his position for private reasons.
Javier Melchor, 40, has been training goalkeepers at CD Badajoz, a Spanish D3 club, since 2021. Before that, he had notably been responsible for the goalkeepers of the entire academy of Racing Santander and coach of the goalkeepers of the Cantabrian club’s reserve team. “After Frank’s departure, it was very important that we find the right profile to start preparing for the new season in optimal conditions. Javier is a modern goalkeeper coach who fits well with the predefined profile and our style of play. Javier will be responsible for the development and coaching of our goalkeepers and will join us at the start of preparation“, declares Jesper FredbergCEO Sports d’Anderlecht in a press release from the Brussels club.
As a reminder, Anderlecht’s season ended last week with a 2-3 defeat against Mechelen on the last day of the classic phase. The Mauves finished in 11th place in the championship.
