Starting on the 22nd, probability item information for games will be transparently disclosed.

The probability-type item information disclosure system is a key initiative in the gaming field under the Yoon Seok-yeol government’s national task No. 58, ‘Spreading the charm of K-content around the world’, and is the first step in protecting the rights and interests of game users.

In addition, it was emphasized as part of a plan to create a game industry ecosystem that enhances the rights and interests of game users at the 7th People’s Livelihood Debate chaired by the President held on January 30th under the theme of ‘Digital Coexistence, Protection of People’s Rights and Interests’.

Probabilistic items refer to items that game users can directly or indirectly purchase for a fee, the specific type, effect, and performance of which are determined by chance factors.

From this day on, those who produce, distribute, or provide game products (game operators) will, in principle, post the types of probability items and their probability information on game products and internet websites (homepages) so that users can easily find them (searchable, use of percentages, etc.). must be displayed.

The Game Management Committee operates a monitoring group (24 people) and a dedicated reporting window (report email [email protected]) to monitor whether random item information is disclosed.

If a violation of the game operator’s obligation to disclose information on random items is discovered through monitoring and reporting, the Game Commission will request correction in the first instance, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will issue correction recommendations and orders in the second and third phases.

If a corrective order is not complied with, a person will be subject to imprisonment for up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million won in accordance with Article 45 of the Game Industry Act.

In addition, a dedicated window ([email protected]) is also operated to provide constant guidance and communication to business operators regarding related systems.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In-chon said, “The disclosure of random item information is an opportunity to restore the lost trust between game users and game operators.” He added, “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will do its best in monitoring and corrective action together with the Game Commission to ensure that random item information is properly disclosed.” “He said.
