For Erling Haaland, the match against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening was one to quickly forget. If the Norwegian top scorer had had his sights set, Manchester City would certainly not have dropped any points.
Immediately after the final whistle, Haaland was shown to be quite disappointed, after he missed several big chances against Chelsea. There has never been a player in the Premier League with such a high Expected Goal value (1.71) who did not score.
Out of frustration, the Norwegian pushed away the camera that captured him after the final whistle. He was also not looking for sympathy from a number of fellow players. “Haaland has probably never had a day like this,” Daniel Sturridge analyzed Sky Sports. ‘He missed opportunities that he normally always makes.’
