MEXICO CITY.- Alleging “party decisions that are foreign to her,” Patricia Mercado yesterday left the spokesperson for the campaign of Jorge Álvarez Máynez, presidential candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano (MC).

In her X account, the senator also announced that she concluded her responsibility in coordinating the Government program “A new vision of the Country.”

“The candidate has the input to go out and make concrete proposals starting March 1, based on the electoral platform and government program that we built collectively over two years,” he said.

“It is the responsibility of all MC candidates in the country to be consistent with these commitments,” he added.

Although he did not specify the reasons, he said: “there are party decisions that are foreign to me and I cannot be the one to defend them.”

Mercado’s announcement occurs one day after MC registered Alejandra Barrales and the Mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, as candidates for the Senate.

In this regard, Álvarez Máynez admitted in an interview that Mercado resigned from continuing as coordinator of his campaign for the nomination of Cuevas and Barrales in the Senate ticket for Mexico City.

“Yes, politics confronts you with these contradictions, it gives you challenges of this nature, the challenge of a force like MC is that there are as few contradictions as possible, that the people who represent those causes have a history of commitment to them,” responded to the question about whether there is a contradiction in MC and the nomination of Cuevas, who arrives after several scandals regarding his management.

He considered it positive that Mercado expressed his position, that he did not agree with the decisions made by the party.

“When you are presidential spokesperson you have to take charge of the good ones, the regular ones and the ones you don’t like, and she, I think with all her rights and everything she has earned in the public space, says: ‘I don’t have Why take care of the ones I don’t like?’” he said in an interview.

Álvarez Máynez considered that there is no pact between senators Dante Delgado and Ricardo Moreal, for MC to incorporate Cuevas and Gibrán Ramírez, two politicians close to the Morenista, in its candidacies.

For Senator Noé Castañón, in MC “wrong decisions have been made”, which is why, he said, he agrees with Mercado.

-Do you share what Mercado has proposed?

“In general terms, yes. I consider that we are in a mistake since the nomination of Jorge Álvarez Máynez in conjunction with other nominations that the party is making,” he said.
