Parallels Desktop 18 officially supports Windows 11 on Apple Silicon Macs

Microsoft announces official support for Arm versions of Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise within Parallels Desktop 18.

Official support

It will have taken time and work on the Parallels side to implement support for a virtual vTPM chip (for virtual Trusted Platform Module) to meet Microsoft’s requirements for installing and using Windows 11, but it will eventually pay off, with today announcing official support for Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise in Arm version via the Parallels Desktop 18 virtualization solution on Apple Silicon Macs. Users who needed to use Windows 11 on modern Macs, of course, didn’t wait to be dubbed by Microsoft, and it works pretty well (with the Arm version of Windows 11 available through the Insider program), but it will not only install the latest version of Windows 11 directly from the Parallels interface, but also reassure some professionals and administrators.

As a reminder, Parallels Desktop 18 offers better support for the ProMotion screens of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, but also for the M1 Ultra chip of the Mac Studios (96% faster according to the publisher) and the M2 chips of the latest 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, as well as 2023 MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max. Parallels is also announcing improved support for USB 3.0 transfers for use with webcams or for audio and video devices. The Pro Edition and Business Edition versions benefit from some additional functions compared to the previous version, such as the possibility of configuring different network conditions for the virtual machine (bandwidth, packet loss, delay) on Macs with an Apple Silicon chip, or even analyzing the performance of applications in a separate VM via Visual Studio. Three versions are available : Standard Edition at €99.99 (€69.99 for an upgrade), Pro Edition at €119.99 per year and Business Edition at €149.99 per year.
