In Russia they want to ban offensive names of settlements. Thus, the villages of Lokh, Shalava, Musorka and Bukhalovo may disappear from the map of the Russian Federation. The corresponding bill was submitted to the State Duma.

The initiators of the bill were Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Davankov and Deputy Anton Tkachev. They also plan to allow authorities to change the names of existing points. “The villages of Lokh, Shalava, Musorka and Bukhalovo may disappear from the map of Russia,” journalist Ksenia Sobchak commented on the proposal in her Telegram channel.

It is clarified that the deputies believe that due to indecent names, residents of populated areas may be subject to harassment. In addition, young people are trying to leave such a village as quickly as possible in order to change their place of registration.
