“Proposed Meeting Between Saudi Arabia and Iran Prior to Ramadan’s Close, With Tripartite Agreement Discussed”

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Monday. They discussed a number of common issues and agreed to hold a bilateral meeting during the current month of Ramadan. The Foreign Minister had previously contacted the Iranian Foreign Minister to pave the way for the reopening of embassies and consulates between the two countries. The agreement to restore diplomatic relations between the Kingdom, Iran, and China was signed after a 4-day talk in Beijing between senior security officials from both countries. Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan confirmed that the Kingdom looks forward to restoring diplomatic relations with Iran, as it will enhance the security and stability of the Arab Gulf region and support the process of joint Islamic action.

Today (Monday), Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

During the call with his Iranian counterpart, the Foreign Minister agreed to hold a bilateral meeting between them during the current month of Ramadan, and they also discussed a number of common issues, in light of the tripartite agreement that was signed in the People’s Republic of China.

The Foreign Minister had contacted the Iranian Foreign Minister a few days ago, in which they agreed to hold a bilateral meeting between them to pave the way for the reopening of embassies and consulates between the two countries.

The agreement between the Kingdom, Iran and China, to restore diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran and to reopen their embassies and representations, within two months, came after 4-day talks in Beijing between senior security officials from the two countries, headed by the Minister of State, member of the Cabinet and Assistant National Security Adviser. Al-Aiban, and the Secretary-General of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani.

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan confirmed, in previous statements, that the Kingdom looks forward to the agreement to restore diplomatic relations with Iran, which will enhance the security and stability of the Arab Gulf region, and support the process of joint Islamic action.
