Prosecutor’s Office will investigate accusations of a paramilitary group against the opposition

The attorney general, Tarek William Saab, announced this Friday the investigation of “new threats of assassination” against Nicolás Maduro, after a Colombian paramilitary group assured in a video that they were contacted by “extreme right groups” to “destabilize” the officialdom.

Saab indicated through the social network

The investigation was opened after the Colombian paramilitary group Autodefensas Conquistadores de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN) published a video in which they claim that they were contacted by Venezuelan “extreme right-wing groups” to “destabilize” the Government of Venezuela.

The prosecutor shared an image of the document in which he authorizes the investigation, as well as the ACSN video.

Given these accusations, Maduro asked the prosecutor to investigate. “We have many intelligence sources (…) they obtain this information, I publicly ask the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, that within the framework of his functions, he assumes this investigation (…) because it is very serious.”
