Little by little, a climate of trust develops between Karim and his passenger. The atmosphere is so relaxed that the alleged Uber driver even offers the young woman a drink directly in his car. After having been looked for cans in a night-shop, Karim parks his vehicle in a cul-de-sac, talks with Amélie and makes her smoke a joint. The two protagonists quickly find themselves in the back seat to have consensual sex.
But the sexual intercourse ultimately turns into a nightmare for the victim. “The preliminaries and the vaginal intercourse were consented. Not the anal penetration that followed, when the defendant began to use violence to prevent the victim from screaming,” said the prosecution. The judicial authority therefore considers that it is indeed a rape and that a sentence of 4 years in prison must be pronounced by default against Karim, absent in front of the criminal court.
