Protecting Teachers’ Rights: Understanding the Four Laws for Restoring Teacher Rights

The so-called ‘Four Laws for Restoring Teacher Rights’ to protect teachers’ legitimate educational activities passed the plenary session of the National Assembly.

At the plenary session today, the National Assembly unanimously passed the ‘Four Laws to Protect Teachers’ Rights,’ including the Teachers’ Status Act, a special law to improve the status of teachers and protect their educational activities.

The amendment to the Status of Teachers Act prohibits dismissal of teachers from their positions even if they are reported for child abuse unless there is a justifiable reason, and prohibits principals from minimizing or concealing violations of educational activities.

The key point of the amendments to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Early Childhood Education Act is that teachers’ legitimate guidance in daily life is not considered child abuse.

The amendment to the Basic Education Act stipulates that parents and other guardians must cooperate with and respect the legitimate educational activities of schools.
