JERUSALEM: Thousands marched from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to protest the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s move to limit the powers of the justice system.

The demonstration which took place 70 kilometers away became one of the massive protests once morest the government. The protesters, who camped in Shoresh, 18 kilometers from Jerusalem, on Friday night will march towards the Israeli parliament on Saturday.

Thousands took to the streets once more following Netanyahu announced that he would ignore the protests and proceed with reforming the judiciary. US President Joe Biden had also requested to withdraw from the reform measures. It is expected that the vote will be held on Monday on the bill which will remove the Supreme Court’s power to overturn the decisions of ministers.

If the Bill is passed, the power of the Supreme Court to prevent corruption and the appointment of unfit persons to important positions will be removed.
