Provisional freedom rejected for Fadilou Keita and Papa Mamadou Seck

Fadilou Keita and Pape Mamadou Seck remain in prison. The two Pastéfiens had filed a request for provisional release on the judge’s table, informs Les Echos.

But their request was denied. For the son of Nafi Ngom Keita and coordinator of the Nemeku Tour, a request for medical expertise was requested but the investigating magistrate vetoed.

Fadilou Keita had started a food strike to protest against his “arbitrary arrest”. But last Tuesday, the head of Pastef announced that he was ending his diet.

Fadilou Keïta has been placed under a warrant of committal since December 9, 2022 by the Dean of the investigating judges (DJI), Oumar Maham Diallo.

He was arrested on the order of the prosecutor. He is being prosecuted for having “openly accused the State of Senegal of having made the two gendarmes Didier Badji and Fulbert Sambou disappear before disguising their death by drowning in Cap Manuel”. Thereupon, the prosecution charged him with the offense of spreading false news in accordance with Articles 80 and 255.

As for Papa Mamadou Seck, he is prosecuted for “criminal association in connection with a terrorist enterprise, destruction of property belonging to the State”.
