PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4 in technical comparison

Gran Turismo 7 will be released this week. Current comparison videos show how well the new racing simulation performs on the various PlayStation consoles.

“Gran Turismo 7” is also one of the Sony productions that appear for both PS5 and PS4. The recently arrived comparison video shows the technical differences between the consoles.

As with most PS5 versions, two display modes are offered. Instead of resolution, however, a ray tracing mode is offered in addition to performance. But the reflections relate only on photo mode, replays and some menus. The gaming experience itself is not affected by this.

Load times and DualSense features make the main difference

The biggest difference can undoubtedly be seen in the load times. The old PS4 takes 42 seconds, while the Pro variant is almost five seconds faster. PS5 owners can only laugh about it and can get started after just 1.5 seconds.

The PS5’s DualSense controller also ensures a higher quality gaming experience. Polyphony Digital makes good use of the features, thereby offering players an immersive driving experience. You’ll feel it as you smash the asphalt, shift up and down, or pedal different vehicles.

The optical differences are rather modest. Notable improvements can be seen in view distance, shadow display and ambient occlusion. In addition, more viewers can be displayed and the landscape has more plants.

Next comes the Framerate-Check. The refresh rate was tested under “the most demanding conditions” to scrupulously verify stability. To do this, the tester drove on rainy or graphics-intensive routes with 20 participants. None of the three versions managed to do without frame drops. Under less intense conditions, however, a consistently constant refresh rate is offered.

The PS5 and the PS4 Pro are on the same level here. But the performance of the basic PS4 is also satisfactory. By the way, old-gen players can also look forward to up to 60 FPS.

Gran Turismo 7 has performed solidly on all three PlayStation systems. But definitely more would have been possible on the PlayStation 5.
