The end of the European championships makes it possible to get a slightly clearer idea of what can await PSG and Lens in the draw for the next Champions League. For the Blood and Gold, it will certainly be very heavy.
The draw for the 2023-2024 Champions League group stage does not take place until August 31. But, almost three months before this deadline, the end of the European championships this weekend allows the two French qualifiers, PSG and Lens, to have a slightly clearer idea of what awaits them.
26 of the 32 teams that will take part in the group stage are already known. Thanks to their Ligue 1 title, PSG are guaranteed to be in pot 1. The Parisians will be alongside the other champions of the first six nations with the UEFA coefficient: Manchester City, Barça, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Benfica .
Thanks to its title in the Europa League, Sevilla FC is also seeded. The 8th folding seat of this hat 1 will be granted to Inter Milan in the event of a victory for the Nerazzurri on Saturday in the Champions League final against City or to the Feyenoord (champion of the Netherlands) if the Skyblues, already assured of being in the pot 1, raise the Big-eared Cup.
Lens condemned to hat 4
With a very low UEFA coefficient, RC Lens is already certain to be in hat 4 with Union Berlin. In addition to the seeds of Pot 1, the Sang et Or will face an extremely tough Pot 2, with seven of the eight teams already known: Real Madrid, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Atlético de Madrid, Leipzig, FC Porto and Arsenal.
Hat 3 is currently made up of Salzburg, AC Milan, Lazio and Red Star Belgrade. Four other teams are qualified but not yet fixed: Chakhtior Donetsk (cap 2 or 3) as well as Real Sociedad, Celtic Glasgow and Newcastle (3 or 4).
