For his first broadcast of the season, Christophe Dugarry considered that this vote by the Parisians was a major failure for Kylian Mbappé: “PSG players prefer to have Danilo than Mbappé as captain. Jérôme Rothen does not share Christophe Dugarry’s opinion: “It’s not a disavowal. The only problem that could exist is Mbappé’s reaction, it only affects him. He knows where he is going. He knows that when you vote like that, he won’t be captain. That’s not a problem. He’s going to do his best this year to represent Paris Saint-Germain.”
Rothen believes that Marquinhos probably has a better attitude than Kylian Mbappé to frame the locker room: “Kylian (Mbappé) is not friends with everyone so automatically, if you vote by a show of hands or a secret ballot, you know that it won’t be him. I think it’s a way of doing things for Luis Enrique. He may have tried it too to test the atmosphere in this new dressing room. He realizes that Marquinhos has a slick image. He is friends with everyone whereas Mbappé, who is an individualist, is not the best to recreate this group.”
