PSG struggles then beats Maccabi Haifa

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won 3-1 at Maccabi Haifa on September 14, 2022, in Group H of the Champions League. The French club has long achieved a sluggish performance against the Israeli team.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Maccabi Haifa certainly play in the same group (H) in the Champions League. But they are not boxing in the same category. A little too aware of this difference in level, the PSG players undoubtedly approached their trip to Israel with a hint of presumption, this September 14, 2022.

Evidenced by the many frank opportunities that a biting and uninhibited Maccabi has procured in front of his public. An attitude rewarded in the 24th minute when Surinamese midfielder Tjaronn Chery opened the scoring with a volley (1-0).

Neymar widens the gap

Jostled, the Parisians react jerkily and in dispersed order. Except in the 37th minute when an overflow from striker Kylian Mbappé and his center back allowed Argentinian striker Lionel Messi to equalize at close range (1-1). And in the 69th minute, when Messi returns the courtesy to Mbappé by serving him in depth, the latter giving the advantage to the champions of France (1-2).

Messi, Mbappé and soon Neymar. Because in the 88th minute, the Brazilian striker widened the gap with a point-blank shot: 1-3. The attacking trio of PSG saves appearances after a sluggish performance in Paris.
